The Scottish Country Sports Tourism Group has moved to clarify the regulations governing social distancing measures and the operation of country sports.

A framework for the operation of country sports – backed by the Scottish Government – was published in July. This allows outdoor fishing, angling, stalking and shooting activities operated by businesses to continue – in line with many other organised sports and outdoor activities.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Country Sports Tourism Group said: “Country sports businesses can continue to operate providing they are adhering to the sector’s published COVID-19 framework and agreed by the Scottish Government.

“Country sports are vital to the economy of Scotland’s rural areas, supporting highly skilled land-based jobs but also employment in pubs, restaurants and hotels. Many sectors in Scotland are allowed to continue operating and our businesses are determined to move forward in a safe manner to support the economic recovery in our countryside.”
