The Easter weekend is usually a time when many of us would be enjoying family days out in the countryside and on the moors. This year, the advice is to stay at home, but rest assured that this precious landscape is alive with flourishing Spring plants, insects, birds and mammals.

Scottish moorlands are managed year-round to conserve their wonderful biodiversity, including:
• Habitat for moorland birds such as curlew, lapwing and golden plover
• A home for a wide array of insects, plants and bird species
• Support for bee populations, pollination of heather and production of heather honey on our moors
• Expert management of Scotland’s famous purple heather
• Ongoing work to restore peatland and help Scotland achieve its carbon capture targets
